-- The ECC is a group that helps develop business opportunities for businesses of color and members of ECC by supporting startups, creating growth and development within existing start-ups, targeting trends for businesses of the future, identify best business practices, and forecast and project future economic development of specific markets locally, nationally, and internationally. WI ADMINISTRATION: MINORITY BUSINESS ENTERPRISES PROGRAM -- Part of the Wisconsin Department of Administration and is designed to increase the opportunity of minority owned companies to sell their products and services to the State of Wisconsin and many of its agencies, including the University system. Opportunities are available in general purchasing of goods and services, the provision of professional services and construction. WI COMMERCE: BUREAU OF MINORITY DEVELOPMENT -- This bureau is housed in Commerce’s Division of Economic Development and is designed to generate and foster the growth of minority businesses in the State of Wisconsin. The Bureau of Minority Business Development provides consultation and services to minority business owners and entrepreneurs and resource organizations. They offer a certification program designed to increase the opportunity for minority firms to sell their products and services to the state. They also offer marketing assistance through a consultant who assists firms in developing marketing strategies and state, federal, and private sector marketing resources. Also, they have a Marketplace Trade Fair that offers the opportunity to meet with state and private sector purchasing agents to promote their goods and services through one-on-one sales meetings and a trade show. Lastly, they have an American Indian liaison that provides advice, technical assistance, and economic development information to American Indian entrepreneurs.
